The Heiniger Saphir is a cordless clipper for riders, grooms and carers who want to work without a cable. It runs on A5 snap-on blade sets, which you change without tools, and comes with two batteries: while one charges, you carry on clipping with the other. That way you keep going through a full clip or several animals in a row.
About this clipper
The Saphir is the cordless machine in the Heiniger range. Without a cable you can move freely around the horse, including where there is no socket within reach. That makes it usable at the yard, away from home and with horses that do not like feeling a cable along their legs.
Heiniger runs two blade systems alongside each other, and that is exactly where customers sometimes order the wrong thing. The Xperience, Xplorer and Progress work with screw-on blades: two separate blades that you screw on. The Saphir, the Opal and the Onyx work with snap-on blade sets, where you change a complete blade set in one movement. Blade sets for the Saphir and the Opal are interchangeable with each other.
That snap-on system is the A5 system, in practice a standard. In the Heiniger range you can choose among others the #10 at 1.5 mm, the #15 at 1.2 mm, the #30 at 0.5 mm and the #40 at 0.25 mm for short work, and the #9 at 2 mm, the #7 at 3.2 mm or the #5 at 6.3 mm when you want to leave more hair. A W after the number, such as the #10W at 2.3 mm, stands for a wider cutting swathe: with it you get on faster across a horse's body. Heiniger also offers the #10, #15, #30 and #40 in a red line version, with an optimised grind, specially hardened steel and a chrome finish, which limits heat build-up.
